At Jeffrey P. Cario, P.A., we are here to help. We understand that an unexpected curveball can wreak havoc. Attorneys Jeffrey P. Cario and Kimberly A. Scarano have extensive experience in family law and criminal defense and the areas where those two cross such as domestic violence and abuse.

Jeffrey has over 30 years of successful legal practice. He is board-certified in marital and family law and is a certified mediator by the Supreme Court of Florida. He began his legal career as an assistant state attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in Hernando County, Florida. There, he tried a variety of felonies, including several capital murder cases. He left the state attorney’s office in 1989 and now devotes his practice to family law and criminal defense.

Over the course of his career, Jeffrey has litigated complex family and matrimonial matters. He is committed to putting your needs and goals first. He has acquired impressive negotiation skills and is adept and at ease in a courtroom. His true talent, however, is discerning which cases require which path. He ensures that you remain educated regarding the potential outcomes and process, enabling you to understand the issues affecting fundamental aspects of your life.

Kimberly has worked extensively in criminal cases including misdemeanor, felony and juvenile delinquency cases. This is in addition to handling family law, dependency and appeals cases and more. She worked as a senior attorney for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Her work included termination of parental rights proceedings and cases of serious physical and sexual abuse. She also provided legal counsel to child protective investigators, case managers and adoptions case managers in her role as adoptions specialist. She joined the firm in 2015.

She was previously an assistant state attorney with the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pasco County.
